MTR's original post highlights the enduring appeal of a watch that seamlessly blends robustness with elegance. His choice of a Rolex Day-Date 40 in white gold with a green dial sparks a discussion on the ideal 'one watch' for all occasions. This article delves into MTR's rationale and the community's insights on the versatility and reliability of this iconic reference.

So the other watches you own aren't reliable in all conditions?
Fully understand and agree
I mean reliable in the sense of suitable for all life situations. Would you jump into the water with a Perpetual Calendar with 3 bar WR? Or ride a bicycle with a Minute Repeater? I'm not an uncritical admirer of Rolex, but I don't know many brands with whom I can do everything from swimming to visiting the opera house. Assuming you think in traditional conventions. Of course you can also take a Panerai to the theatre. Best Thomas
This DD 40 marked a personal anniversary four years ago. In former I owned the 36mm version but nowadays I prefer the 40mm case. Best Thomas
I thought for a long time between the versions with blue, black and green dial. The platinum version with the light blue dial was also very seductive, but at the end the watch (although I love Platinum cases) together with the bracelet was just too heavy for me. I am very happy with my choice and have not regretted it in the last few years. You donβt get tired of this green dial, WG case and bracelet and you can really wear this watch with anything. Best Thomas
I'm trying to forget this one, as I went for the cheaper DJ as an alternative, but you're killing me π π π
