Yes, I tried. Really. I even told myself, “You don’t need another watch!!!”

I made promises. I ignored temptations. I closed the browser window multiple times. I resisted!

But then came this weekend‘s (better: WEAKend‘s) WristScan competition… and in a moment of weakness (or honesty?), I revealed her.
The game is up. So here it is — my official confession: I’ve fallen for the Daytona in Platinum.

Now, to be fair: this wasn’t planned.
I had ordered this piece two years ago, and frankly, I had given up on it. Long forgotten. Off the radar. I wasn’t even planning to buy a watch — after all, I had just picked up the IWC Eternity not long ago.

But then… I walked into the boutique.
No bad intentions, just curiosity. And there it was: the call had come. The new ref. 126506, with sapphire caseback and ice-blue temptation. I tried it on — just for fun, of course.

Big mistake.

The moment it touched my wrist, it was over.
I couldn’t let go. I didn’t want to let go.
Absolutely crazy. Totally irrational. But what can I say?

So here it is — the watch I never expected to actually get, never planned to buy, and now never want to take off.

More pics soon — because if you’re going to surrender to platinum, you might as well enjoy it.

Yours in platinum guilt,
Thomas

Absolutely!

Rolex knew what they were doing with the 72h reserve, even if I hardly ever take it off long enough to test it the coming weeks. Except for my beloved IWC Eternal, and my… and my… OMG 😨 LOLLLL 😂

I get it!

She was all but forgotten , but there was a reason you registered interest with your ad years ago. I have fallen victim to - when you get the call- rationality goes out the door. I’m glad you picked it up, I love the dial and brown bezel. Being a chunk of platinum is cool too 👍 enjoy your piece

Haha, I can relate!

When the call comes, all logic fades. The platinum version with the ice-blue dial is mesmerizing. A true marvel!
