Echi's reflection on Hurley Haywood's well-worn Rolex Air-King sparks a conversation about the philosophy of watch ownership and the acceptance of wear. This article delves into the community's perspective on balancing the desire for pristine condition with the appreciation for a watch's journey, as inspired by a legendary racing driver's timepiece. Echi's personal struggle with OCD and the aspiration for carefree wear resonates with many collectors.

His AK was really worn with a lot of scratches all around. Looked really nice. I wish I was that carefree with my watches but my OCD gets in the way. I don’t mind getting to that point where it has a lot of wear but the journey to get to that would drive me nuts!

Anyway, this will probably be my watch ‘til Easter. Enjoy your day folks smile

I find the dial a bit too busy for my liking but it definitely has some charm, enjoy it in good health!

Must be nice to have Rolex as a sponsor… (and Porsche)! Your watch looks great. And you don’t have to beat it up to wear it. I’m with you on this one.

I was wondering if you folks in the automotive forum would ever consider an AK as a driving watch. It was about trying to break speed records after all.

When you’re sponsored by Rolex it would be easier to “Shake and bake” the watches. Mine says hi.
