Nicolas (amanico) shares his appreciation for the Rolex Yacht-Master ref. 16622, highlighting its distinctive aesthetic and enduring appeal. His original post invites collectors to revisit this reference, which he considers one of his top three modern Rolex watches. This article explores why the 16622, with its unique dial and bezel, continues to captivate enthusiasts and maintain its status as a significant model within the Rolex catalog.

Rolex Reference 16622
The Rolex 16622 represents a distinctive configuration within the brand's lineup, featuring a steel case paired with platinum elements. Produced from 1999 to 2012, this reference combines mixed precious metals in a 40mm case format with 100-meter water resistance.
The 40mm steel case houses the automatic Caliber 3135 movement, providing 48 hours of power reserve. Notable specifications include a bidirectional rotating platinum bezel, rhodium dial, and sapphire crystal. The watch is completed with a platinum Oyster bracelet, creating a two-tone precious metal construction.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking mixed-metal Rolex pieces from the early 2000s production era. The combination of steel case construction with platinum bezel and bracelet elements positions the 16622 as a distinctive option for those interested in Rolex's use of contrasting precious metals during its 13-year production run.
It's most likely the next piece I'm going to add to my collection. I love it!
Superb photo too. M4
always had a soft spot for this reference.... the original version is a killer even though they did a decent job renewing it later. I think this will find a solid place in the catalogue of great releases in the future despite having been semi unloved in its early years
This is definitely a watch that initially flew under my radar but is definitely growing on me. I like the use of the red second hand and lettering too, which I think really compliments the dial.
that it was different and cool when released? and since Rolex has released several non black dial sports watches providing tons of choice? I for one was tempted by this YM but never got myself into getting one for several reasons... but then ended up getting a meteorite GMT many many years later... i think this GMT has a resemblance in character to the YM
... detail I love most is the incredible frosted surface of its dial. It makes for the awesomeness of this watch. I got the 16622 as well. A strong favorite! Love your shot as well as an old wrist shot of yours which shows it with a red shirt in my memory doesnยดt fail. That shot made me hunt for mine several years ago. Mine says hello! Cheers! Abel
