Nicolas (amanico) shares a captivating image and personal reflection on his Rolex Yacht-Master reference 16622, highlighting its distinctive platinum bezel and dial. He positions this model as an "Un-Rolex Rolex," a piece for the discerning collector seeking something special. His perspective invites us to reconsider the Yacht-Master's unique place within the brand's iconic sports watch lineup.
Rolex Reference 16622
The Rolex 16622 represents a distinctive configuration within the brand's lineup, featuring a steel case paired with platinum elements. Produced from 1999 to 2012, this reference combines mixed precious metals in a 40mm case format with 100-meter water resistance.
The 40mm steel case houses the automatic Caliber 3135 movement, providing 48 hours of power reserve. Notable specifications include a bidirectional rotating platinum bezel, rhodium dial, and sapphire crystal. The watch is completed with a platinum Oyster bracelet, creating a two-tone precious metal construction.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking mixed-metal Rolex pieces from the early 2000s production era. The combination of steel case construction with platinum bezel and bracelet elements positions the 16622 as a distinctive option for those interested in Rolex's use of contrasting precious metals during its 13-year production run.
I had 4 Deep Sea and the last one will be forever...
. . . lust-inducing. π M4
As a luxury version of the Submariner, I think it also represents the Rolex of today better than anything else in it's catalog. Love that it's available in 37mm. Both this version and the newer rhodium grey dial with blue hands look fantastic.
But this doesnβt distract from the beauty of this watch.
Another very undervalued watch at the moment. And another great shot my friend. I need to wear mine more. Enjoy. M.
