When looking for the funky Seiko alarm clock, I managed to see that the friendly online bookseller carried a surprisingly large selection of other Seiko pieces, some of which I have long wanted but did not find with the local AD or on the local Seiko website. So I thought I was forever going to only be able to admire it from a distance, alas luck was to find me in the festive season and delivery happened this morning - the first of the year smile

After the outer packaging was removed, the simply, sombre box was there, and soon the little gem within was to be revealed...

And there we have it - a very basic Seiko 5, probably the cheapest on offer at the moment - but one I really wanted to have. Demonstrates that one can have fun at this hobby of ours at vastly differing price points wink And AFAIK I am not the only one here who succumbed to its charms. What is funny, though, is how vastly different the prices for different colours were - the blue for instance costing almost three times as much as the desert one (luckily that was the one I wanted all along).

And here is a family shot with a slightly older 'brother', which shares the size (give or take) and the name smile

It is actually surprisingly comfortable on the wrist and very, very light - one hardly notices having it on. And the nylon strap is surprisingly good for the price point.

Different finishing is actually a bit of a surprise at this price point - practically the whole watch is brushed but there is a polished section between the lugs, at the back side of the lugs and on the case back (display one, too).

Finally, the strap. Find it complements the watch admirably and it is likely to stay for now.

Again surprised at how much fun a cheap as chips, honest watch can be - looking forward to some wrist time over the weekend. biggrin

Have a great weekend, all!

That it will have aplenty - cooking, playing with the little one, during all the more rough and tumble activities... But then again that\'s what it was made for

It is a cool piece in a way, in spite of its price The only comment at this point is the small, somewhat fiddly crown but then again - the price point Very much look forward to playing with it more!
