Cazalea explores the Seiko 5T52 world timer family, prompted by a fellow collector's post, showcasing how subtle design variations can dramatically alter a watch's appeal. This article serves as a visual guide to the diverse styling of the 5T52 movement, highlighting various references and their unique aesthetics. It's a fascinating study for anyone interested in Seiko's approach to world time complications and design evolution.

A few days ago, new contributor watchheimc posted some pictures of his beautiful Seiko watch, which is officially called:

My Blue Planet World Time Limited Edition 2000

This watch prompted more than one Purist to think "I'd like one of those ..." and contact me to see if I knew of a source. I don't, but I had a great time looking at all the variants of the 5T52 that are currently listed for sale around the world.

I thought the Seiko forum would be an appropriate place to discuss how a few styling tweaks can completely change the look (and desirability) of a watch. So here they are, all in cropped photos mostly from ads (current or stale).

BTW, what looks like a center seconds hand actually points to the city whose time you read on the 24-hour subdial at the 12 o'clock position. The real small seconds are at 9 o'clock on the dial.

Anything strike your fancy, Seiko lovers? Personally I like 7A3L.

Cazalea

PS I am such a dope - I just remembered that I used to have the 7A3L in gold!

Anyone (with an irrational collecting urge) could make the same mistake, right?
