RDSChicago presents the Seiko 6139-6020 "Pulsations," a vintage chronograph often referred to as a "doctor's watch." This post provides an overview of its unique features, including a specialized bezel for medical use. The subsequent discussion explores the practical utility of such complications.

The Seiko 6139 is an automatic chronograph movement introduced in the late 1960s, notable for its integrated column wheel and vertical clutch. The 6139-600X series, particularly those with yellow or blue dials, gained the "Pogue" moniker due to its association with Colonel William Pogue. These watches were produced by Seiko's Suwa factory, featuring specific dial markings that distinguish variations within the series.
Pulsograph scales are actually quite practical in a sense and generally much more useful in everyday life than tachymeter scales. I have two watches with them, albeit none a Seiko 😊🤷🏻♂️
These vintage Seiko’s are a blast to collect!
The dial is a piece unique but their addition of a pulsograph scale was well chosen 👏🏻😊
