G99 shares his excitement about finally acquiring a 1964 Grand Seiko Calibre 430, a watch he considers the ultimate Seiko for his collection. His post details the extensive search for a pristine example, emphasizing the importance of original components and excellent condition for vintage collectors. This acquisition highlights the dedication required to find specific vintage references.

all Seiko fans will probably guess that the watch i have just purchased is a 1964 calibre 430 handwind Grand Seiko, the ultimate Seiko for my 1964 collection.
i have seen several over the years either for stupid prices, tatty or with missing gold medallions, however, last night, on a popular auction site i found a minty condition model from january 1964 which has just been serviced and regulated. original crown, original medallion, original dial and case that although finished nicely has not been over polished.
i made a cheeky best offer and went to bed expecting it to be turned down as i havent got a lot of money spare at the moment. i couldnt believe it this morning when i woke up to find my offer had been accepted so its paid for and will arrive as soon as EMS can get it too me which is usually pretty fast.
these pics are the sellers, but i think they go a long way to show how nice the watch probably is (i paid by paypal on credit card as always so no real worries about any problems arriving).

i hope you enjoy the pics as much as i'm enjoying my purchase.
one happy bunny

I hope to see more of your own photos of this Seiko when it arrives. You have given me inspiration to find "my" Seiko, perhaps in the same way. ;-) Best, respo
