KMII's acquisition of a unique Seiko desktop clock, initially planned for 2016, unexpectedly arrived early, sparking a lively discussion among collectors. This post highlights how a seemingly simple item can ignite passion and community engagement, proving that horological appreciation extends beyond wristwatches. KMII's playful reveal and the subsequent community interaction underscore the joy of collecting diverse timekeeping instruments.

I was confident that the promise to myself of no more timepieces in 2015 was perfectly achievable and that I was safe and that 2016 will start with a new addition, pretty much imminently, so to speak - delivery date was set for the 5th of January. Somehow, though, the logistics worked out a lot better, meaning there is an additional piece added in 2015 - I got an absolution at home for it, though wink

And this man is to blame wink His acquisition of the same piece got the ball rolling...

So without further ado, here goes...

As it should be, with box and papers biggrin

Unpacked, prior to being set, with the protective / instructional sticker still attached.

And finally, in use. Was looking for an appropriate background on the bookshelf, find this one quite fitting - what do you say? wink

Apart from hacking seconds (impressed), an alarm function, a stopwatch, countdown timer and illumination it has a final trick upon its sleeve - that one shall only be revealed a bit later, though biggrin

So the year ends with a Seiko, which is a good portent of things to come in 2016 smile

I guess I was Jet-Lagged at the Seiko Museum and only saw the real thing, even though I took a photo of the model. Oh well, time to start looking again! Mike

Do you remember what event the real one was made for? Too small on my mobile to tell from the display with the model. Also explains the countdown function...
