Lukather1 provides a detailed mini-review of the Seiko Quartz V.F.A. Ref. 3823-7001, a high-end quartz watch from 1974. This post offers valuable insights into a significant vintage Seiko reference, highlighting its advanced features and design elements that set it apart in its era.

Hello to all.

A few lines to describe this magnificent clock dated April 1974.

It was a bit ago that I was searching for just this reference:

I am a lover of quartz and not only that, I wanted to have something special and unique at the same time, definitely talking about high-end Seiko quartz caliber 3823 and among the first three places, thermocompensated, 7 jewels, minimum monthly, for the time here was put on the market was an excellent produc , just think of the cost of the watch that exceeded abundantly 100.000 yen!

As mentioned quality ' top starting with the construction of the case - block like with the form of a helmet, the beautiful glass domed crystal protruding (just like me) , date of course Kanji- English , beautiful applied indices that rely on a very stylish dial color white, but especially these indices seconds in relief (refinement) , the second hand black in contrast with that of the minutes and hours , with the latter also beautiful shape of a " shotgun " if you can ' use this term, the writing essential Seiko canon at noon and six o'clock quartz vfa Suwa logo .

Particular dimension to the bracelet, in a word, spectacular (according to me) 9 meshes of which the outer larger following in a perfect way the wrist, soft , closing clasp different from other watches I have had so far, tab more pronounced single and central. Sized as usual for these watches 37mm including crown.

I leave you with some pictures hoping for some comment, supplement or correction to what I wrote.

A greeting.

Max, welcome to SEIKO forum! I believe you got a very nice piece in your collection. Yes, a hidden gem. Quartz or Mechanical , VFA is VFA and it involves a lot of manual labor to achieve the utmost accuracy for each path. Thank you for the post! Looking forward to meeting here or in Tokyo again! Best, Ken

I enjoy seeing a new watch, learning data about it and learning why you love it. Your post includes those 3 things and that makes it a pleasure to read. As moderator (and professional editor) I couldn't resist touching a few things to make the story flow more smoothly in English. I hope you don't mind. Thank you taking the time to share this. Cheers, Cazalea

Was 5s/month but I am uncertain that it employed thermocompensation either analogue or digital. Ken maybe your contacts at Seiko can provide more details?

this one, especially with the date window and kanji character. Haven't seen this before in a watch.
