Cazalea introduces Seiko's RECRAFT line, a collection designed to evoke the vintage aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s. His post details the diverse range of mechanical, kinetic, and solar watches, highlighting their retro appeal and accessible price points. This overview provides a valuable look at Seiko's strategy to blend heritage design with modern affordability.
REDRAFT watches look like they were built in the 1960's or 1970's.
The line contains watches that are reminiscent (to old guys like me) of the good olde days of high school and college.
To younger folks (like the designers at Seiko), I suspect they look like the watches worn by their heros in the best of the Seventies movies or television.
Most of the watches are mechanical.
The RECRAFT collection contains some themes that are consistent with earlier Seiko watches - such as a wide range of variations in colors, materials, straps and bracelets, and tiny details of marker width, curvature of case, etc.
In a surprising turn - these watches rely on the proven 7S26 movement which is in SO MANY Seiko dive watches.

You can select a regular 3-hand watch, or a chronograph; with kinetic (left) and solar (right) movements.
Strap or bracelet. Men's or women's. Silver or gold or black case. Accents of yellow or blue. And so on.
Too bad for some - as far as I can see they all have date windows!
I haven't handled one yet "in the metal" but the really amazing thing is the MSRP of these watches is under $400 for the kinetics and solars
And under $250 for the mechanicals.
I think this means that one of Cazalea's nephews might be getting a new watch for Christmas ...
What do you think? Can you see yourself buying one "for a young relative"? (or maybe yourself?)
