Cazalea shares a delightful photo essay featuring his wife's Seiko Sports 150 during a serene morning walk. This post beautifully captures the interplay of nature's awakening and the quiet presence of a beloved timepiece, offering a refreshing perspective on watch ownership beyond mere technical specifications. It highlights how watches become companions in our daily lives, even those of our loved ones.

Today's walk features the watch of Mrs. C -- it's part of a pair (mine's broken) and since I collected them, I consider her watches part of my collection. She just beats them up a bit ... :-(

We headed east today along the river, up above the old Mission (or Padre) Dam to Kumeyaay Lake. We got there before the sun came up over the horizon. It was mighty cold by our standards.

The lake was still and littered with ducks. This is looking downriver, towards the west.

We crossed at the ford and got partially around to the other lobe of the lake.

This is looking northeast, towards the 3 graceful radio spires.

This is looking directly north, at another segment of the lake.

Sun rise was supposed to happen at 6:48. It didn't.

We walked around the north side of the lake towards the west end.

It was nicer at this end; the light is increasing as we circled the water.

A rather undignified way of getting one's breakfast. Not easy being a duck!

Water leaving the lake under the spillway

There's our sunrise! It's 7:05 according to my camera.

The direct sunlight lights the upper parts of the trees above us.

And is magically changing the colors of the reeds along the water's edge.

This is familiar to those in most parts of the country but rare for us in the land of evergreens and cactus.

This magnificent tree was full of birds.

Including this busy woodpecker.

An eyeball view -- took me 10 tries but I finally got this close-up.

We left the river and headed into the prairie

We got to the edge and thought, not today. We will come out here another time.

There are amazing contrasts throughout the Mission Trails Park, just east of San Diego a few miles. I walked from the river here to my house years ago. About 20 miles; it nearly killed me.

Time for breakfast and to write this up!

PS - my matching watch, waiting for parts

Yes, that "burning off" bit is a necessity!

With a 3 lb box of See's Chocolates on the table, open ...

Mmmmmmmm...

A solution is to loan Mrs. C only divers or Gs(if you own any)?

Parts came yesterday

We are back together. Sadly the only donor watch I found has a flat dial and thin hands. Mine has applied markers and date window frame. To gain clearance for the hands, they have to be angled up slightly causing an issue with the second hand. ๐Ÿ™ For now we will go without it., pending more research.
