MTR shares his anticipation for the Ulysse Nardin Diver [Air], the sole novelty from the brand at Watches & Wonders this year. His post highlights the watch's blend of haute horlogerie with extreme lightness and robustness, making it an intriguing proposition for collectors seeking a modern, functional sports watch.

The Diver [Air] was the only watch that Ulysse Nardin presented at this year's Watches & Wonders.

This model is super exciting: haute horlogerie combined with absolute lightness and robustness (great for vacation, sports, etc.)

The main features: an ultra-lightweight construction, shock-resistant to 5.000g and a WR of 200 meters.

I am looking to see this watch personally on Wednesday.

As I read about it during W & W 25, I was so convinced that I asked my AD to catch this piece for me.

The brand UN has always fascinated me, but no new releases in recent years have really appealed to me. Apart from the Freak models and the incredible Blast Free Wheel marquetry, of course.

I'm very excited. But as always, I tell myself that I have to hold the watch in my hands and try it on my wrist.
Only then will I (be able to) make my final decision.

I've already been warned about one thing. The Diver [Air], including the strap, weighs a mere 52 grams. Practically nothing...

Note: The photos are screenshots from a video my esteemed AD recently sent me. I couldn't get any more quality out of it.

All the best, my dear watch friends
Thomas

The openworked dial looks very appealing from what I can see.

Definitely one that I’d be curious to see more of.

I have to give credit to UN for knowing how to make pieces with a statement.

The Freak series still stands out amongst them all, but I appreciate the creative thread in many of their pieces.

For me, this watch is all about quiet confidence rather than showmanship. In a world full of polished steel and retro reboots, this Diver [Air] stands out by doing its own thing—unapologetically. It doesn’t try to be a classic dive watch. Actually, it seems to question what that even means today. It has no bezel and no date. There is nothing written on the dial. And there are no vintage nods. Just a skeletonized dial, clean lines, and a clear focus on modern materials and functionality. The watc

It’s fantastic when a watch sparks emotions!

This “light watch”, concept has been explored many times before, Journe OctaSport, Omega Ultralight
so nothing new and I also think that while justified, it’s a bit thick and has very weak legibility. To my taste, it just doesn’t have that “Wow” factor that we’re looking for. Thomas, my point is not to talk you out of it, more so to reinforce the “try on” argument! If you want to run from steel sports, consider the Omega Ultralight, much better package and originality and I’m not even an Omega g

You are completely right.

The only problem is that I don’t like the Omega Ultralight. It somehow doesn’t speak to my heart. And the Journe Octa Sport is not as robust as the UN Diver Air and is nowhere near as water-resistant, only 3 ATM, which makes it unsuitable for me as a sports watch. Up to now - when I have followed my heart - I have always ended up with Panerai. There is hardly any better legibility. And I love the powerful and pure design. Unfortunately, this brand has not managed to bring anything new and innova
