Christianch shares his excitement and initial review of the Ulysse Nardin Freak ONE, a timepiece he considers an horological marvel and a personal dream realized. Having previously owned the Freak X, Christianch highlights the ONE's streamlined design, wearability, and technological innovations, including its unique movement and award-winning status.
Dear All,
I'm happy to share my review of the Ulysse Nardin Freak ONEāa timepiece that, to me, is more than just a watch. It's a true piece of art, an horological marvel, and a personal dream come true.
I previously owned the entry-level Freak X and always knew I wanted to eventually own the "regular" Freak. The announcement of the Ulysse Nardin Freak ONE last year immediately caught my attention. It has everything I love about the Freak series in a more streamlined design. With a 44mm diameter and just 12mm thickness, it's probably the most wearable Freak ever made.
I love the rose gold bezel and accents, which add an element of elegance and sophistication without being too flashy.
The real star of the watch is, of course, the movement. The automatic Caliber UN-240 includes Ulysse Nardin's proprietary grinder winding system with a 90-hour power reserve. The DLC-coated titanium case is incredibly light and comfortable, and the escapement treated with DIAMonSIL enhances both precision and durability. This watch is packed with technological innovation.
Itās a true Freak according to the new definition by Ulysse Nardin: NO DIAL, NO HANDS, and NO CROWN.
To top it all off, the Freak ONE won the "Iconic Watch Prize" at the Grand Prix de lāHorlogerie de GenĆØve in 2023āa well-deserved recognition, in my opinion.
As always, Iāll let the photos do most of the talking. Iāll be uploading more in better quality soon, but I couldnāt wait to share my happiness after receiving this watch today, especially on such a special occasion.
Christian

Congratulations on realising your dream.
I canāt seem to find an answer if these new Freaks are tourbillon? I know the original ones are tourbillons. The description or reviews of new models always said carousel so can you share your knowledge?
I was always intrigured to figure out if is really a tourbillon...I think it could qualify as a 1 hour tourbillon but I have asked the trusted AI to create a more comprehensive explanation as a page which I am happy to share www.perplexity.ai it appears that the Freak is its own beast š I am totally in love with this new watch..strong honeymoon! ā¤ļø
