Incoming: Platinum Cloisonné enamel Tellurium by Ulysse Nardin - part of ‘The Trilogy of Time’ collection.

Introduced in 1992 as the final piece in the Trilogy series designed by Ludwig Oechslin, this has long been on my radar and at last is now a treasured part of my collection. This particular piece is part of a limited edition of 99 produced in platinum featuring a Cloisonné enamel dial of the earth viewed from above the North Pole.

The piece boasts a wonderful array of complications:
World Time
Perpetual
Moon Phase
Real time view of the position of the moon relative to the Earth and Sun
Sunrise and Sunset indication
Solar and Lunar eclipse indication
Real time view of the areas of the earth experiencing daylight and nighttime

As with many Ulysse Nardin’s the dial is a work of art, the Tellurium revived the art of Cloisonné enamelling with each Earth dial taking more than fifty hours of work by a craftsman.

A line on the enamel marks GMT and another on the back of the sapphire crystal at 12 o’clock facilitates easy reference, it is a perfect world Time watch showing the current time of each place on Earth. A fine gold wire is stret

I know this post is 8 years old...

But I'm probably going to pull the trigger on one of these later this week, and I've got a lot of studying to do!

It's an amazing piece.

Enjoy the ride of learning how to read the information, with a piece which is now 20-30 years old the critical thing will be to set the year correctly before moving on as without that you are lost. Check that the piece has the info on setting this and it includes up to 2026 as the setting is different for each year. Have the wrong year set (which isn't actually shown) and the lunar and solar eclipses will be wrong, everything else will still be correct.

I have made a spreadsheet that will allow you to set this watch (and the other trilogy pieces) precisely

for any day and location. It can be a bit of a headscratcher otherwise. PM me if interested. Best Andreas
