About the De Bethune Big 8 Ref. 2240

The De Bethune Big 8, reference 2240, represents a distinct offering within the brand's collection, characterized by its focus on essential timekeeping with a refined aesthetic. This reference is part of a series that emphasizes clarity and the brand's signature design elements, distinguishing it from more complex complications while maintaining De Bethune's high standards of craftsmanship. It serves as an entry point to the brand's design philosophy, showcasing its unique approach to case architecture and dial presentation.

This particular reference features a case crafted from steel, measuring 43mm in diameter. It houses the manual-winding caliber DB2105, which provides a substantial power reserve of six days. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, known for its scratch resistance, protecting a dial that typically presents a clean, uncluttered surface. The movement is visible through a sapphire case back, allowing appreciation of its finishing.

For collectors, the Big 8 reference 2240 appeals to those who appreciate De Bethune's distinctive design language in a more understated form. Its steel case offers a different character compared to the brand's more frequent use of precious metals, making it a notable variant within the Big 8 family. The long power reserve and manual winding movement align with the preferences of many horological enthusiasts seeking a blend of traditional mechanics and contemporary design.

Oh yes!

And I would personally choose the 1140C with the P8 caliber designed by Peter Baumberger and Jean-François Mojon: I love the look of this rose gold model and would want this pivoted detent escapement.

Great watches

Wonder what the plan is with this brand? I almost got the blue dial platinum ref but ended up with a Laurent Ferrier instead. Sometimes wish I went UJ

No idea of what Kari Voutilainen is cooking!

And having a classic micro rotor LF, I personally have no regret. I love it and it suits my taste even more than the UJ.

Good lord, I love UJ.

They make very cool stuff. A collector friend I know has one and it is one of the most beautiful watches I've ever seen.

Yes, really very beautiful watches.

And the P8 caliber with detent escapement would be a pleasure to own.
