The Vacheron Constantin 222 reference 4200H/222A represents a modern reinterpretation of a significant historical model. This particular reference, released in steel, commemorates a key anniversary for the brand, drawing directly from the original design ethos of the 222 model introduced in 1977. It is positioned as a contemporary offering that pays homage to Vacheron Constantin's heritage in integrated bracelet sports watches, distinguishing itself through its faithful design language and updated internal mechanics.
This iteration of the 222 features a monobloc case construction crafted from stainless steel, reflecting the robust and refined character of its predecessor. The case houses an automatic movement, visible through a sapphire crystal case back, which provides a substantial power reserve. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the dial side, ensuring clarity and scratch resistance, and maintains a level of water resistance suitable for daily wear.
For collectors, the 4200H/222A appeals to those seeking a blend of historical significance and modern watchmaking. Its release marks a notable moment in Vacheron Constantin's recent history, celebrating the brand's enduring legacy. The steel variant is particularly sought after for its versatility and connection to the original integrated bracelet designs, offering a distinct alternative within the brand's contemporary collection.
I read the other ones and they all didn't have the technical details and the heritage details I was looking for. So I decided we had to have our own on WPS!
I'd dog-sit that watch too! Very cool! Thanks for sharing the all important bezel removal shot! Are the gaskets between bezel and case standard sized or special sized?
You couldn’t access the back to release the stem, so this 2-part item is released by prying with tweezers Then the movement can be lifted out after the front is unscrewed. Note the dirty bracelet before it was cleaned. Mike
