The reason it took me a lifetime to get here is quite simple. I'm a watch wanderer and enjoy roaming far and wide, so simply haven't had the bandwidth to give due attention to VC until now. Now that I've begun to understand what it is and what it's done, it feels like a revelation: like discovering a whole new culture afresh. I use that analogy deliberately: I've lived in five countries and worked in more than forty, so know how intoxicating it is to experience something for the first time. This is much the case now with VC.

To the watches:

1. 1970 Ref. 6562

My initial pursuit was simple enough. I wanted a champagne dial steel three-hander from the 1960s, and spent a few enjoyable months scanning the terrain. That it landed me at the doorstep of VC and the watch below is accidental. However, by diving deeper, I succumbed to an entirely frivolous wish to have a VC with the '&' between the 'V' and 'C,' thus dating it to the pre-modern period.

I like that it conforms to the standard look of watches of the 1960s. It's unassuming and looks like standard fare - indistinguishable at first from a Omega Seamaster or a Grand Seiko. The sunburst champagne dial is pristine and the lapidated lugs top it off.

2. 2001 Evasion World Time, ref. 48250

VC does JDM. As another post here recently mentioned, 100 in white gold were made for the Japanese market. Another 100 in pink gold followed two years later.

It's the same story here as with the 6562 above. I didn't set out to buy a VC. Rather, I wanted a world time watch with the city disk on the bezel (think Andersen Geneve, Ebel, Seiko, Van Cleef & Arpels). There was plenty of aimless wandering and not knowing where it would lead. Then this one came to my attention while I was narrowly missing out on another watch, and I acted instinctively. The fun part of this is that I only began to learn what I had stumbled across after I had bought it. Needless to say I'm rather pleased.

This is a dangerous path you’re taking here, my friend.

Speaking from experience, as I took quite the same route as you. Don’t take me wrong, I’m not trying to discourage you from going this way - rather I want you to be prepared. I love the 6562 for its quintessential VC beauty and for the color scheme. Top choice! The world timer is a first for me, I‘ve never seen anything like it from VC. There are outstanding books on VC‘s history and of the watches they made in this quarter millennium. This is a great starting point to go down the VC rabbit hole

Hi. Thanks for the friendly encouragement and word of warning.

Some reading seems to be in order. Something has just clicked. I can't explain why I've suddenly tuned in to VC in a way that I haven't with its peers. That's interesting in and of itself. I'm more than happy to digest what the knowledgeable folk here have to say - there are some top drawer contributors. As for getting lost, let's see.
