Though I’m generally not a huge “dress watch person”, this one (Ref 81000) had piqued my interest for a while. This is the white gold version with dimensions of approximately 37mm x 7-8mm in thickness. Some of the highlights of this watch to me include the spiral guilloche pattern, the sword hands, and Malte lugs. I believe these were made in yellow gold in addition to white gold and can be found with either spiral or straight guilloche patterns. Thanks for looking!

About the Vacheron Constantin Malte Grande Classique Ref. 82130

The Malte collection represents Vacheron Constantin's foray into tonneau-shaped case design, departing from the manufacture's traditional round complications. Introduced in the late 20th century, the Malte line draws inspiration from the Maltese cross that forms part of Vacheron Constantin's logo, translating this geometric motif into wearable horological architecture. The Grande Classique variant strips the concept to its essential elements, prioritizing legibility and proportional harmony over additional complications.

This particular example showcases the collection's restrained aesthetic philosophy through its guilloché dial work and subsidiary seconds register at six o'clock. The textured dial surface creates depth while maintaining the clean hierarchy of information that defines classical watchmaking. The tonneau case profile offers an alternative to round dress watches without sacrificing wrist presence, while the applied hour markers and leaf-style hands demonstrate Vacheron Constantin's commitment to traditional finishing techniques even in their more contemporary designs.

Within the luxury dress watch segment, the Malte Grande Classique occupies a specific niche for collectors seeking Vacheron Constantin provenance in a distinctive case shape. The model appeals to those who appreciate the brand's manufacturing heritage but prefer alternatives to the Patrimony or Traditionnelle collections. While not commanding the premiums of perpetual calendars or minute repeaters, the Malte line represents accessible entry into Vacheron Constantin ownership with genuine manufacture credentials.

I can’t take credit for the strap because it came to me on this strap. There is no branding on the strap so I’m not sure who makes it but I really like it too. It is a suede of some sort.

The straight guilloche is nice too but when I saw this spiral pattern, I liked it even more.
