Friends, several of you have witnessed one of my more recent posts,
featuring the recent arrival of my new “Blue Pleasure”, the Vacheron Constantin
Overseas Ref 4500 V.
I just wanted to share some more pics, now after some weeks in the stables
and initial experiences of this great sportswatch classic.
You may have realized my rationalizing until I was ready to pull this trigger.
In short, the case, but also a great bracelet of sportive elegance render my pleasure,
offering the feature of a rapid strap change by its click & clip, thus using one of three
straps ( steel, blue rubber & dark blue alligator) with ease and very quickly.
There is also a 2nd deployment clasp coming with the set, so you always can
have 2 of the 3 straps mounted, ready to be very easily exchanged.
I truly like this feature, as it allows a sort of 3 in 1 watch, with quite
different appeals, and all that with two easy and quick clicks..
The bracelet with the Maltese Cross on the double-clasp is truly molding itself on the wrist
The Tonneau shaped case with its 41mm diameter is just right in size for me and its
dodekanoid (12) edges for the “interrupting” spaces on the serrated bezel (top polished, base brushed)
give it a relaxed, in part sporty, in part more dressy appeal.
Moreover, the dial with its different finishings & tonalities of lighter vs darker blue
delivers a very nice play with light and renders attractive hues. The centre is sun-burst,
whereas the outer flange with the two rails in satin/ velvet finishing.
The clean appearance of the dial (with only a small date - Yes, a date..) makes one
appreciate the clear design language with the 6,9,12 trapezoid applied markers
and more linear Baton ones for in- between.
Also the circumferential rail of the minuteries on the peripheral inside and seconds scaling
on the outer rim is clean but also charming with its lighter blue, vs a darker blue for the minutes.
In between there is a dark blue, almost black circular space which even augments
the contrast obtained.
Finally, the automatic movement (5100, 4 Hz) with its 22ct RG hemi- rotor with a truly nice
finish, including brushed outer, grained inner finishing; thereby an attractive star-type
“compass rose” in the very center renders a really nice pleasure to look through
the sapphire caseback onto this rotor & parts of the movement. In addition, this
movements sports a 60 hrs power reserve, which gives it an attractive & convenient
time-range.
Ok, enough now, here some few pics to illustrate my early experiences:

A sportive classic but with a touch of casual elegance

Great multilink bracelet with Maltese cross interlink & on double clasp

Different, intense blue hues rendered by changes of light. Also note the peripheral rails: inner mins vs outer secs

Attractive caseback with 22ct semi-rotor & convenient rapid strap exchange clicks

For me true pleasure for the eye: unobtrusive class

After rapid exchange to rubber strap

Well featured in the box

Hope you liked it a bit,
- In fact, I do - a real lot !
Cheers to all & Best,
