...just kidding, but the little discusison we had last week over the VC Traditionelle and the Lange Saxonia made me curious enough to want to try them on side by side...both are watches I've been eyeing for a long time, but haven't made the move yet - and I still haven't, but after trying these two on today, even with the plastic wrap, I think I know which one I prefer....and it's got my appetite whetted.

Both are in white gold with a manual wind movement and feels almost the same on the wrist, with the Saxonia feeling just a tad lighter.

Which would you prefer and why?

I would vote for...

... VC because of the position of the small second. Traditionelle's small second is "low enough" in the good balance while Saxonia's small second is "too high" and a bit out of proportion. My guess is Saxonia uses the same movement as the smaller version? You can't go wrong with Traditionelle.... :-) Ken

Movement a little small in the Saxonia, yes

The automatic version has a more balanced dial with a larger sub seconds and a larger case to go, but the rotor obscures the movement and it's thicker which makes is less nice IMO.

Understood.....

... then I would go for the original Saxonia in which the same movement (or the original one) was put in..... I really hate the trend of putting the same movement in the bigger case to "ride" the wave. OTOH, VC has been continuously making watches for 200+ years and that alone is admirable. And Traditionelle is very well thought of, in terms of the design as well as the movement. I would go for VC.... Good hunting! Ken

From your photos, looks like VC is better...

If it's me, I will also like to look at the movements, just to make my final decision. I don't think there is a loser in the two. Good luck with your choice. Rgds Raymond

I seem to agree

Both movements looks really nice - the ALS has a nicer decoration, I think, and a nicer hue, but the bridges and layout of the VC's movement is nicer to look at. Thanks for the input.

My vote would be for

the VC any day. Because I prefer location of subseconds, color of dial, hands, looks sharper and more modern. Can't go wrong with either however. Good luck!
