Have recently been given the opportunity to purchase the Vacheron Constantin traditionelle in rose gold. Was not expecting it, but tried it on and was amazed by the dial. Originally I intended to purchase the Patek 5212a, and now I am stuck in a bit of a conundrum. Which one would the collectors here chose? I do not intend on selling the watch, but would be good if i can expect the prices of the watch to drop by just around 20%. Thanks!

About the Vacheron Constantin Ref. Traditionnelle270thAnniversary

The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle 270th Anniversary is a limited edition timepiece released to commemorate a significant milestone for the manufacture. This reference is distinguished by its specific aesthetic details and the integration of a highly regarded movement, placing it as a notable piece within the Traditionnelle collection, which is known for its classic design principles and horological complications. It represents a blend of traditional watchmaking artistry with a focus on precision and finishing.

This particular model features a case crafted from rose gold, a material often chosen for its warmth and traditional appeal in fine watchmaking. The watch houses a manual-winding mechanical movement, known for its intricate finishing visible through a sapphire crystal caseback. The dial design emphasizes clarity and legibility, consistent with the Traditionnelle line's commitment to classical horology. The use of a sapphire crystal on the front ensures durability and scratch resistance.

The Traditionnelle collection itself is a cornerstone of the brand, offering a range of timepieces from simple two-handers to grand complications, and this anniversary model stands out as a special iteration within that esteemed lineage.

Neither for me

That VC dial is not for me and the PP dial is entirely too busy for me. I’d consider a Lange 1815 38.5 mm instead. But you should get the one that evokes the most emotion in you . Good luck!

Both watches will lose 20-30% of their value out the door. I’d pick the VC. More special, better finished, nicer case.

Do limited edition VC fair a bit better? I know the standard traditionelle drops by about 50%

Neither appeals to me...

...but I would definitely consider the VC in a different configuration. Like this Japan-only version with a guilloche dial...
