Marc, known as Gwai on WatchProSite, shares his hands-on experience with two significant Vacheron Constantin models at the brand's Zürich boutique. His detailed impressions of the platinum Traditionelle ref. 82172 and the steel 222 offer invaluable insights for collectors considering these references. Marc's candid reflections on wrist presence and aesthetic details provide a crucial perspective that goes beyond official specifications.

The Patrimony Contemporaine Bi-Retrograde reference 82172 represents Vacheron Constantin's interpretation of retrograde complications within the Patrimony Contemporaine series. This reference distinguishes itself through its bi-retrograde function, offering dual retrograde displays on the dial face.
The watch features a 42.5mm case crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel configuration. A silver dial sits beneath sapphire crystal, while an automatic movement powers the complications. The case offers 30 meters of water resistance, positioning it for dress watch applications rather than sports usage.
Reference 82172 appeals to collectors seeking complicated dress watches with traditional precious metal construction. The 42.5mm case size accommodates contemporary sizing preferences while the rose gold case material and silver dial combination provides classical color coordination. The bi-retrograde complication adds mechanical interest beyond standard time display functions, targeting collectors who appreciate visible complications in formal timepieces.

Somehow I do feel the Traditionelle suits you better!
It tells me I definitely need to try on since I may not like it as much as I think. I saw the other anniversary models in person and I liked the dial motif in person.
On photo, I find it hard to bond with it. Best, Emmanuel
While i agree with the loss of geneva stripe, i was told that the”cote unique” is only for 270 anniversary, so something different.
just didn’t excite me on the wrist. For one, the case seemed small, something the picture doesn’t reflect. And I wasn’t thrilled by the width of the bracelet - which tapers dramatically, by the way - near the case, in relation to the case. A fantastic watch, but not the stuff my dreams are made of.
