Blomman Mr Blue recounts a memorable Vienna GTG (Get-Together) that included a special dinner with Zenith, hosted by Magnus. The post captures the essence of community gatherings, blending culinary experiences with the shared passion for horology, featuring an array of Zenith timepieces from various eras.
Friends,
During our Vienna GTG our wonderful host Magnus had not only arranged the Boutique visit but also booked a very nice dinner with a special guest!
The lovely Miss R. from Magnus great “Zenith Coffee House Tales” posts!
According to the local members the “goose week” had started, during that week the goose is the best.
But since this was my first time in Vienna, I had to try the Winerschnitzel!
Yes, as good as promised!
You all know that PuristS can’t sit by a table without pulling out watches…
Again, the brand was well represented by the group!
We had some divers among us…
The Zenith S. 58 from 1958.
The Zenith Defy from the 1970.
Well, Miss R. had something to show us as well…
With her she had the prototype of the Zenith Heritage Cronometro Tipo CP 2, a hommage to the A. Cairelli!

This is a watch I have been very keen to see in real (have been hunting the original for years).
From photos, I think the watch looks fantastic!
But as you all know; the real experience may say something different…
Here, I would say Zenith delivered!
Strong, solid, updated with modern technology but still true to the original.
Exactly like the original A. Cairelli, the dial is very clean and with the two registers, it comes off as very symmetrical.
The bold bezel is easy to read and sets with nice “clicks”.
Pushers are firm and distinct, something I like on a chronograph.
The solid case back is very spartan, possible could have been a bit more decorated, but goes very well with the spirit of the watch!
The 43mm diameter case feels actually a bit smaller on the wrist.
Guess due to the curved lugs that embraces the wrist in a very good way.
In the restaurant, the light was very bad so I will borrow KMII’s wrist shot here.
The good thing with the bad light is that you get a feeling for how good the lume is…
Yes, this one now entered my wish list!
The longer the dinner went, the more watches got on to the table…
Here a Zenith Chronomaster.
And of course, you can’t have a Zenith dinner without some Chronometers!
Dual branded, Chronometer, No-chronometer… All Calibre 135.
I think we actually lost Miss R. for a moment when she had the chance to see the Calibre 135 movement up close.
(Loupe is included in any experienced PuristS bag!
And if you are a Black-belt, you also have your own headlamp!

Not joking!)
But unfortunately the dinner ended and we had to put back the case on the watch…
Again I like to thank Magnus and Miss R. from Zenith for their great hospitality and for a wonderful Zenith moment!
From here our merry group of PuristS again went into the Vienna night for even more adventures…
Stay tuned for more Vienna GTG reports!
Best
Blomman
and that would be summary of this wonderful post Cheers D
Here she is in caught in the act: Thanks for the report, Blomman, and the fantastic images (Cal. 135 being my all time favourite)! Magnus
but by far not as yummy as the watches we saw
And engaging in the same position most of us assumed for the evening.
and I will not tell this
Well, this evening was so much more that just one watch or one calibre! Best Blomman
