Hs111 delves into the niche world of vintage watch collecting, specifically focusing on dials featuring crosshairs. This post highlights how collectors develop unique thematic interests, transforming a simple design element into a focal point for their acquisitions. Hs111 showcases several examples, inviting the community to appreciate the subtle elegance of this particular dial aesthetic.

Friends, collecting Vintages can have many facettes, goals and habits.

Divers, Alarms, GMTs, Sporty models, dress watches, blue dials, Guilloche ones,

are frequent themes, just to name a few..

In my humble case, some of you may have realized that since a while

I got interested in dials with Crosshairs. In many instances these have

been en vogue in the 60ies, but also for some of our contemporary

pieces, this dial indication or element of elegance has been re-discovered

& subsequently again used on the respective dials.

When I rather recently browsed some of my Vintage boxes, some of them

contained such watches and I just simply thought to share a few here.

In fact, these ones taken are 3 Vintages and one modern: 3 have a diameter of 36 mm,

the modern is larger, as expected

It all had started in 2015 with a nice Universal Geneve dress watch, I was lucky to find

at a certain, well, known horologer & watchmaker in Paris. In a way I was pretty

instantly mesmerized, by the quiet elegance, the pure appeal, but still coming

with a very specific charm.

So I would just share some few shots with you, rendering some of them.

Interestingly, 3 of them are from different brands, so it was not only

something peculiar of one brand, but rather reflected a specific appeal or

element of style.

It had taken me some 2 years to hunt & find these few specific watches,

sharing a Crosshair as a common theme:

It started with this UG with a pure face & the Crosshair

Universal Geneve in Paris

Enjoying the pleasing appeal & the Capucchino

GP Gyromatic Cal 31 and a Crosshair from arrow to arrow

Arrows & the Crosshair: really like the little space for the writings

What a balanced Duo

JLC Ref 329 with a twist: even days white on black, uneven black on white
( Apologies for the somewhat blurred iPhone pic)..

Ref 329 with small sec. & Date with a little twist

A modern Crosshair pinnacle: TT Geophysic - following the footsteps

I hope you liked the little pictorial a bit..

Have a great week to all !
Best, hs.  smile smile
