Patrick_y challenges our conventional understanding of 'valuable watches' by spotlighting Picasso's 'Woman With Watch,' a painting that recently commanded an astonishing $139 million at Sotheby's. This thought-provoking piece invites us to consider value beyond horological mechanics, exploring the intersection of art, wealth, and perception. Patrick_y's original post delves into the unique attributes of this artwork and its implications for collectors, prompting a fascinating discussion on what truly constitutes a 'most valuable watch.'

The world's most valuable watch is not a watch!  It doesn't even really tell time - it's only accurate twice a day.  It's a painting of a watch!  I give you, Picasso's Woman With Watch!

Recently sold at Sotheby's for about $139 Million US dollars!

This piece is especially beautiful to my eyes because it is a gorgeous cool-color toned Picasso (the blue and green tones are very soothing) and the watch aspect is also very interesting.  Picasso's Woman With Watch has a seated woman who wears a watch that is perpetually stuck at one time - so this piece of work will be accurate twice a day.  Another cool aspect is that the signature is at the top left of the artwork rather than the common bottom right.

I'm not a Masters of Fine Art - nor an art expert, nor an art journalist.  So I won't bore you with much more unqualified statements (everyone has an opinion, but unless you're qualified, your opinion isn't worth much - and I realize I'm not qualified in discussing much about art) - but just know - the most valuable "watch" in the world is now a painting by Picasso!

What are your thoughts?  Do you like it?  Would you want such an artwork in your home?  I like it!  Can't buy one of course - can't afford even the insurance on the original.

Never liked picasso really, with the exception of his painting "guernica".

Didn’t Picasso wear a Rolex or Patek? Can’t recall from some picture I saw in past.

Imagine the track time driving a Ferrari 250SWB or 275GT. I'd rather own and track the cars.
