Cozmopak's thought-provoking challenge to identify a singular, lifelong watch resonates deeply within the collecting community. This exercise transcends typical 'grail watch' discussions by forcing a commitment to one piece, prompting collectors to consider not just aesthetic appeal or horological significance, but also practicality, personal connection, and enduring relevance. Cozmopak's own choice, presented without explicit detail, serves as a catalyst for a rich discussion on the ultimate 'one watch collection'.

I think, if I had to own only one watch, I would take something like that: Why? Because I travel on a regular basis, it would be great for casual moments, not totally out of place in formal moments... Moreover, it is reliable and accurate. All I need in life. BUT your proposal is absolutely stunning! Best, Nicolas
...that watch would probably be in my top 5. Here is another that I would be happy to wear every day without complaint... Hodinkee
I want it to be versatile enough to wear for every situations that I will find myself in. And interesting enough that I won’t get bored of it. Therefore in my current small collection, I have to choose the Lange Odysseus.

If it is to be the "only" watch, it has to work with everything from business suit to bathing suit, and that includes a bathing suit worn in the water.
Mine would be either one of these. Simple watches as I am always weary of complex mechanisms and their long term reliability. The Voutilainen 28E (a possible incoming) The RW Smith Series 1 (arriving by May 2022) The Patek Philippe 7200R London Edition (the longest watch ever in my small collection and for good reason too!)
