I like the Maltese for style. The LUC I like for the matte finish which minimizes the curb crash you get from your wrist on things.

"and only given a 'rum for its money' by the stylised JLs": my English isn't good enough, unfortunately ! What is a JL? I would agree that the VC buckle is the most iconic. But the best in terms of wearing experience could be the LF. Both the LUC and the LF are 16mm, whereas the VC is 18mm and I prefer the smaller size on my wrist. Thanks for your enthusiasm.
