I missed this item but wish to add. Crown down eventually risks damaging the stem and the related lever's inside. There was an article years ago that showed the damage suffered from frequent jolts to the stem from regularly placing the watch crown down. However why do some manufacturers put a gemstone into the crown if not to protect the crown from scratches etc when the watch is placed crown down? The only times I place a watch into a vertical position is when I wish to control the daily rate.
