Arie - Mr Orange provides an update on 'The Contest,' a community challenge where participants commit to wearing a single watch for an extended period. This post checks in with contestants after one month, inviting them to share their experiences, challenges, and insights gained from this unique horological exercise. It captures the spirit of camaraderie and self-reflection among collectors.

March 1th. Yes you did read this correctly. March 1th and The Contest is still very much ON.

Let's hear from our contestants. Are you still master of your domain? How many times did you almost cave in? What are your feelings after 1 month of suffering? Did you get mental support from a professional? Or are you getting the hang of it and start to wonder why you own so many watches in the first place?

Please confirm with a live picture that you are still actually in this race for everlasting glory. And please give us an update on how you are coping! A lot of us are really very curious to learn how you are pulling this off!!

About the Montblanc 1858 Collection Ref. 1858

The Rolex Bubble Back, reference 1858, represents an early example of Rolex's self-winding waterproof wristwatches. This reference is part of the broader Bubble Back family, characterized by its distinctive domed case back designed to accommodate the thicker automatic movement of the era. It showcases Rolex's foundational efforts in developing robust and reliable automatic timepieces for everyday wear, laying groundwork for future Oyster Perpetual models.

This particular reference features an 18k white gold case, measuring 38mm in diameter. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal, protecting a silver dial. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, specifically the Boucheron 1858 caliber, offering a power reserve of 42 hours. The fixed bezel and leather strap complete the watch's classic presentation.

For collectors, the reference 1858 holds interest as an early and relatively rare iteration within the Bubble Back series, especially in white gold. Its larger case size for the period also makes it appealing to modern tastes. The presence of a date complication adds to its functionality, distinguishing it from simpler time-only Bubble Back models and highlighting Rolex's early integration of practical features.

Below is a picture taken just now to prove I'm still in and have no signs of weakening or to need to wear another anytime soon. For me and before I even knew about this competition I managed to find The One for me when my VC Overseas Gen1 arrived as it hasn't been off my wrist since it arrived way back on the 12 th November 2016 and as I have mentioned before it is actually my intention to sell off all my other watches some time soon.
