Dear Zenith-friends,

I allways wanted to have a chronograph. For some 20 years ago I bought my first one: a Tag Heuer 2000 (no problem in the quartz-era).
Later I bought a Sinn 756 Diapal (modified Valjoux 7750).
Butt stil I had the feeling I wanted to have a  'real' chronograph.
After some research, I made up my mind that there is only one real chronograph for me and that had to be the El Primero, the first mass-produced automatic chhronograph. Really no offence to other chronographssmile.

I narrowed my choice down to the 36.0000VPH and the Stratos Flyback.
I became the latter because of its looks: big, sturdy, tool-watch-like.
It's a big watch, but after one day you'll get used to it. And with removing the end-links (Nilo-style) it looks a bit slimmer on the wrist.

There is said a lot of the overlapping subdials: it's no problem for me: you only miss 6 minutes on the 30-minute-subdial (17-22 minute) and 10 seconds on the seconds subdial (18-27 seconds) .

The deployant clasp on the rubber strap works absolutely fine.

pro:
EP-caliber 405.
looks:
- great dial (IMO): good readibility, also at night (superluminova)
date/flyback (no use, but likely feature)

con:
lug-size: 23 mm: it can be difficult to find a nice aftermarket strap other than custom-made

Stros Flyback

Stratos Flyback

About the HEUER Professional 200m Diver Ref. 756

HEUER Reference 756

The HEUER reference 756 represents the brand s entry into dive watch production, featuring a rotating diving bezel and 200-meter water resistance. Produced in 1979, this 28mm reference occupies a compact position within HEUER s sports watch offerings of the period.

Welcome to the El Primero club. Love the watch, love the price. Not too keen on the rubber strap. For me, I would go for the bracelet or a Blomman style strap. Enjoy you chrono. Dean

I'll absolutely go for a strap-change in the near future. But the rubber strap was part of the (great) deal. The bracelet is to bling for me. I've seen it. Tell me plz more about 'Bloman-style'

It's, in all senses, a great watch. In respect to the 23mm lug space, this is a lesser problem. You can fit a 24mm into 23mm lugs. Just, before trying, do some beats on the strap attachment (after all you need to reduce 1/2 mm on each side) or Look for vendors that sells 23mm straps. Enjoy this wonderful watch. Cheers, Nilo

Now on a handmade aftermarket alligator strap. Looks so much better. Will use the rubber strap in summer on the beach. On a Rios1931 Jet strap
