So, after the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox E 871, you may read about it here: www.watchprosite.com

Let’s move on to the reference E 872.

Yes, another Funky 70’s Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox!

39mm x 46mm, 12.5 mm thick including the plexi crystal which is raised above the bezel.

Basically, the same dimensions as the E 871, but with the long side as vertical instead of horizontal.

In fact, the E 872 share the same plexi crystal as for the E 871.

Even if it might not look like it at first sight, both their dials have the same dimensions.

Side by side – left: E 871, right: E 872.

It’s easier to see from this angle, left: E 871, right: E 872.

As you can see, they also share the same 20mm NSA bracelet.

In documents the E 872 is featured on leather strap.

Example:

1970 –

1971 –

1972 –

The E 872 existed in two dial versions, most well-known, the Silver/Grey which is the version featured in documents.

But there was also a blue version.

April 1971: E 872 Weiss oder blau, white or blue. 595 DM on leather strap, 652 DM on bracelet.

OK, time for box play!

This time I opted for blue boxes just to mix it up a bit…

And just to verify we are still within the correct timeframe:

The boxes are the same type as previously shown brown one, rectangular flat with an inward angle to the opening edge on the sides.

There are many versions of these boxes, here are two different from the one I showed you in previous post.

The lid has the same pocket for the papers, but the “bottom” are not the same.

One with a “hook” to attach the strap/bracelet while the watch lies flat in a bigger opening and one with a groove for the watch and strap/bracelet.

Hope you enjoy this venture into Jaeger-LeCoultre boxes and accessories.

Personally, I love this kind of stuff and the Funky 70’s is a great period for that.

Bolder, more colourful but still with function and practical application in mind!

More to come…

PS. Any boxes or papers included in this series will only be included once together with one watch.

If several of the same, then its because I have several…

Did i enjoy it? Hell I did! you know half way through an impatient reader could have thought that you have the silver E 872, only the silver, but of course, the blue is also in the stable! Marvellous!!! CC

Funky and Chunky but looking like NOS. I have a side question. The ad below also shows the Polaris and the ad is from 1970's. What year(s) was the Polaris produced and sell through? Sorry for the distraction. ...

The Siver dial is NOS! :) Thank you, Bill! The Polaris was in production between 1965 - 1970. After that the Polaris II, E 870 took over... We will have a look at that one later... Best Blomman

Friends, We often talk about the complicated or the sports... But I would like to put a light on some of the core criterions of a modern wrist watch: Time, Date, Automatic, Water resistant, Shock resistant and Accuracy. This is what a big part of the watch buying customers wants. Yes, is this order, at least if you look at most of the big Manufactures and their main part of watch production each year.
