Pre SIHH 2018: Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Limited Edition. First picture, first thoughts.

Christmas is not here yet, but we didn't have to wait for it to have some surprises.
Jaeger Lecoultre just sent me some news about a new watch to be unveiled right now. A Jaeger Lecoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface Limited Edition.
When I read the press release, I sent a message to my contact at the Manufacture, just to be sure.
Indeed, when I saw the official picture of that new Reverso, I wondered if there was no mistake. For me, visually, it was the third iteration of the Reverso Tribute Duo, first unveiled in 2016 in steel, then at the beginning of this year, in rose gold.
The case dimensions of the Tribute Duo are 42, 9 mm x 25, 5 mm and it is 9, 2 mm high.
The case dimensions of this Tribute Duoface limited edition are 49, 4 x 29, 9 x 10, 9 mm.
We are closer to the 2017 Reverso Tribute Moon, here: 49, 4 x 29 x 10, 9 mm.
So, it is not a Reverso Tribute Duo, but a new Tribute Duoface; Those who regretted the too small case of the Tribute Duo will be happy with that last one.
The recto dial has a slate grey tonality, with a sunburst decoration, while the verso has an hobnail guilloché and an opaline dial.
I don't have a picture of the verso side for the moment, but I will post as soon as possible.
As for the Tribute Duo, the " Duoface " houses the Cal 854, which offers an autonomy of 42 hours.
The other specificity of this limited edition is the strap, made by Fagliano, the famous Argentinian bootmaker, who made straps for the Tribute To 1931 in 2011.
The strap, as you can see on the picture, is two tone. And all those of us who touched it know how supple and comfortable it is.
It is a limited edition of 100 pieces, available at the Jaeger Lecoultre boutiques only.
What do I think? I find it superb, almost precious with that chromatic combination of dial / case.
I would have preferred the very same watch but with the Tribute Duo case size, truth to be told. But I have to see it in the flesh, which I will do when I am at the SIHH in a bit more than one month.
Why the smaller case, for me? Because I've been strongly seduced by the Tribute Duo, which I find perfect for my taste. A summit of elegance. But I learned, all along these years, to reserve my final judgement till the day I feel the watch in its metal and on my wrist.

Even the Tribute Moon is 1, 7 mm less thick. That's something I will have to ask, when meeting the JLC Team.

A precision which I just have received. The case thickness is exactly the same than the Tribute Moon, so 10, 9 mm. 12, 6 mm is from under the lugs.
