Friends,
During our Vienna GTG our gracious host Magnus arranged a private visit for our group in the beautiful Omega Boutique located in the prestige’s Stephansplatz.
There we were received with open arms, the special Bollinger Omega Cuvee and odours from the Schwartzen Kameel!
A great opportunity to see many examples of Omega’s current production.
But also, the Vienna Omega Boutique is the only Omega Boutique in the world having a museum room!
Here we had the privilege to see some of the important pieces from Omegas long and rich history!
Of course, there was a lot of focus on the Speedmaster and the connection between Omega and NASA…
But also, a lot more!
Car, Railway and Airplane watches from the early 1900.
Pocket watches from the same period.
Wrist watches from the 1920s and 1930s.
An important part of the Omega history; Chronometers’.
Early water resistant watches.
Now in this display I am a bit hesitant… The Corfam straps didn’t exist in 1939 if I remember well…
Ladies watches from the 1950s and 1960s. Look at the one on top!
One of the few things I missed in this wonderful exhibition was a display including some of the 100 Year’s Anniversary watches (1948) like the Centenary, the 30 mm Chronometer, the Cosmic and the early Automatic.
The star of the show (for me) was the grail Speedmaster 2915 and the second mismatch…
The Constellation De Luxe (1958) with a buckle from the 1970s…
Here up close of both.
We all know Omega always had a close relationship with sports.
But that is not only on billboards around arenas…
Omega played a big part through history in development of timekeepers made for sports!
And the close relationship with the Olympic Games has been a long collaboration…
For example, the Seamaster XVI in 1956.
Including the box, another grail that would make any vintage Omega collector’s mouth to water…
A fantastic display from a brand with a very rich history!
As mentioned, there was a lot of focus on the Speedmaster…
Including the 125 Year’s Anniversary watch: Speedmaster 125
The 100 Year’s Anniversary Watch Centenary meets its 25 years’ younger friend, the Speedmaster 125.
A lot changed during these 25 years, the cultural revolution, the landing on the moon, …
And this is shown very clearly on these two watches!
Of course, the Seamaster 300 also had a display.
Whit in our group of PuristS, Omega was very well represented!
Among others, this very rare White Gold Speedmaster.
But also, some older ladies…
Talk about ladies… One of the younger ladies lost her heart to a lollipop…!
Quickly paparazzi was there to capture the moment!
A HUGE thank you to Magnus and Thomas Schmolek and his team at the Vienna Omega Boutique for treating us with such a sweet Omega moment!
From here our happy group went into the Vienna night for more adventures…
Stay tuned, will return in separate posts with closer looks on some of Omega’s modern watches.
Best
Blomman
