Description

Dear Friends,

As some here know, I am a horological bibliophile and collector of memorabilia of the legendary (and sadly missed) George Daniels (widely known as probably the most influential independent watchmaker of the last 100 years)

Offered here: RARE DOUBLE SIGNED 1981 "WATCHMAKING" book (aka The Bible) by Dr George Daniels - published by Sotheby's. Price: US$850 shipped worldwide {PRICE DROP}
What makes this book especially rare is that it is signed by the author (George Daniels) and illustrator (David Penney).

Lovely flowing signature in  ink. Original intact  signed editions of Watchmaking are rare, but books signed by Daniels and Penney are EXTREMELY RARE (I have only ever seen one other copy)

As you know, signed copies are NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, as the only way to get a book signed was to visit George on the Isle of Man.

This is one of the finest signed copies I have ever handled. Appears unread with crisp dust jacket.

416 pages, 777 illustrations, board covers and mint dust jacket. The great distinguishing feature of the 1981 edition, is that the front and back end-papers carry a reproduction of George Daniels' original technical drawings for his Space Traveller pocket watch. This was changed in later editions (which I always thought was a shame).

This is a very reluctant sale to fund an incoming timepiece purchase. I hope it find its way to another admirer of George Daniels. Thanks for looking.

Resonance described through control theory
Have you ever heard of a feedback loop? If you haven't, I can best describe it as a way in which a system can actively detect its output through a sensor and make changes to its variables in order to achieve and maintain a certain desired state automatically. Control theory is a branch of mathematic

John Harrison, A L Breguet and George Daniels at the London Science Museum
We took our daughter on a day trip to London and we visited the Science Museum. For those of you that haven’t been, I highly recommend it. The exhibits range from space travel and flight through to medicine and communications. However, of particular interest to WPS members, within the Science Museum
