Description

As some here know, I am a collector of memorabilia of the legendary (and sadly missed) Dr George Daniels.

I have decided to sell a precious signed copy of Dr Daniels' magnum opus (Watchmaking) AND a rare original brochure for Daniels Anniversary watch (series of 35 pieces). I have never seen another Daniels Anniversary brochure anywhere else

For sale: RARE SIGNED 1st Edition (1981) "WATCHMAKING" book (aka The Bible) by Dr George Daniels - published by Sotheby's. Price: US$1,250

Lovely flowing signature in blue ink. Original intact First editions of this volume are VERY RARE; signed copies are NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, as the only way to get a book signed was to visit George on the Isle of Man.

416 pages, 777 illustrations, board covers and dust jacket. The great distinguishing feature of the 1st edition, is that the front and back endpapers carry a reproduction of George Daniels' original technical drawings for his Space Traveller pocket watch. This was changed in later editions (which I always thought was a shame). The book is in great condition - all bindings, spine and corners are tights. Dust jacket is original, and is a little frayed at top of spine (see pic). This book has been treasured and loved.

This is a very reluctant sale to fund an incoming timepiece purchase. I hope it find its way to another admirer of George Daniels.

Resonance described through control theory
Have you ever heard of a feedback loop? If you haven't, I can best describe it as a way in which a system can actively detect its output through a sensor and make changes to its variables in order to achieve and maintain a certain desired state automatically. Control theory is a branch of mathematic

John Harrison, A L Breguet and George Daniels at the London Science Museum
We took our daughter on a day trip to London and we visited the Science Museum. For those of you that haven’t been, I highly recommend it. The exhibits range from space travel and flight through to medicine and communications. However, of particular interest to WPS members, within the Science Museum
