Description

Dear Friends,

As some here know, I am a horological bibliophile and collector of memorabilia of the legendary (and sadly missed) master watchmaker George Daniels

What I have to offer here is a real "once-in-lifetime opportunity" for someone to acquire a set of  6 (SIX!) SIGNED G. DANIELS books from my library!!! - lot includes five (5) signed 1st editions of  GD's masterpiece reference tomes: "Watchmaking", "Art of Breguet", "Practical Watch Escapement", "Watches" and "Clocks and Watches in the Collection of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers"; plus a 2nd edition of George's autobiography.  ALL SIGNED!!!

Books are in great condition, and some have dates and personal inscriptions as well as signatures!

A MUST-HAVE for any keen horological collector. A perfect gift for a collector who has everything (HE/SHE WILL NOT have this!)

I've been collecting Daniels books & memorabilia for around 10 years now, and George's books are crazy rare. The ONLY way to get George Daniels to sign a book was to visit his workshop on the Isle of Man!!!  Here you have SIX VOLUMES - pretty special.
Also, interestingly, the signatures span many decades of George's life (a treat for any amateur graphologists here).

This is a reluctant sale, but I need to fund a new watch being made for me, so sacrifices need to be made to fund this crazy hobby of ours.

VERY Hard to price this lot (because it is a unique collection), but based on previous sales of signed Daniels books here and in auction houses, and the IMPOSSIBILITY of finding a set like this anywhere, I have valued it at [FINAL PRICE REDUCTION]  US $5,000 (includes worldwide shipping). Payment by Bank Wire or PayPal (buyer pays all fees).

YOU WILL NOT FIND ANOTHER SET OF SIGNED DANIELS BOOKS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD (except maybe in Roger W Smith's personal library).

I am looking to sell the set together, rather than split the a collection.

Books are:
  • "Watchmaking" - 1st Edition 1981
  • "Art of Breguet" - 1st Edition 1975
  • "Watches" - 1st Edition 1965
  • "Clocks and Watches in the Collection of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers" - 1st Edition 1975
  • "The Practical Watch Escapement" - 1st Edition (Isle of Man) 1994
  • "All in Good Time: Reflections of a Watchmaker" - 2nd Edition  2006
Books are located in Melbourne Australia.

Resonance and its properties, any insight welcome
Journe enthusiast from London explores resonance in timepieces, delving into how vibrations transfer through materials. Seeking resources to grasp the concept further, particularly in the context of FP Journe's work.

Resonance described through control theory
Have you ever heard of a feedback loop? If you haven't, I can best describe it as a way in which a system can actively detect its output through a sensor and make changes to its variables in order to achieve and maintain a certain desired state automatically. Control theory is a branch of mathematic

John Harrison, A L Breguet and George Daniels at the London Science Museum
We took our daughter on a day trip to London and we visited the Science Museum. For those of you that haven’t been, I highly recommend it. The exhibits range from space travel and flight through to medicine and communications. However, of particular interest to WPS members, within the Science Museum
