Doxa SUB 300T Sharkhunter bites the dust! :)

Avatar

Another one bites the dust! This time the Doxa SUB 300T Sharkhunter. The Synchron version with meter on the bezel instead of feet and without the Aqua-lung. If I understood Bill correctly, this must have been a watch for the European market hence the meter scale and missing Aqua-lung/U.S. Divers Co...Story

A retrospective view on my year 2018.

Avatar

A rich year, this year, with some excellent and a few less good moments. All starts, for a watch lover and moderator, with the SIHH and its series of novelties. Was it a good SIHH? In terms of novelties, there were some highlights. Jaeger Lecoultre with the new Polaris line of watches, of course...Story

Overview of deadbeat seconds watches and calibres (please contribute)

Avatar
KMII
Every now and then I find a topic or theme in horology that awakens my curiosity (high frequency watches: has been one). The latest one are deadbeat seconds watches, also known as jumping seconds or seconde morte pieces. Unlike the high frequency topic, which has been a collecting theme of mine for a while, this is more of an Umberto Ecco style ‘anti library’ for me so far - something yet to get into. I find the idea of a mechanical watch that to the uninitiated looks like a quartz quite appealing and such .....Story

Hands on review of the Moser Heritage Bucherer Blue Editions

Avatar
foversta
The partnership between Bucherer and the brands that are sold in its stores is growing, and new models are being featured on a regular basis in the famous retailer's Blue Editions collection. Moser is one of the brands that have already contributed to this collection and is back on stage at the end of this year with two new pieces: the Endeavor Diamonds Bucherer Blue Editions and the Heritage Bucherer Blue Editions. I want to go back with more details to the latter because it marks an important step for Moser ... ...Story

The Asian Snowflake

The Asian Snowflake Seiko SBGA211G This dial is really cool when you come close to it. The Grand Seiko Snowflake is a unique watch. The blue secondhand made a great contrast to the dial. The titanium case and bracelet and the size of 41mm diameter and 12,5 mm thick feels well balanced in the hand...Story

On the sidelines of the SalonQP 2018

Avatar

When the SalonQP takes place, you always have the ability to meet watchmakers or brands which take advantage of the event to show their latest creations to people who go to London. I was able to take advantage of my stay in London to discover other watches that did not emanate from the official exhibitors of the salon. A visit to the Charles Frodsham boutique on Bury Street was a must and is mandatory if you travel to London soon. The Double Impulse Chronometer Wristwatch is indeed one of the most ambitious .....Story

Spotted in Paris: Universal Genève Space Compax Ref 885104 and Tri Compax Ref 222100 and 885101.

During my Saturday watch shopping in Paris, I could see a bunch of eye catching vintage Universal Genève. The Space Compax, first, dating from the second half of the Sixties, reference 885104/01 It is claimed that this Space Compax was conceived to challenge the Speedmaster as a moon watch, which would explain the name of this watch, while it seems that it is, naturally, a diver chronograph, with its 250 meters water resistant case, its prominent crown and pushers, and its bezel. It is a rather big watch ... ...Story

The watches that shouldn't be missed at SalonQP 2018

Avatar

The last edition of SalonQP has just taken place in its usual place at the Saatchi Gallery in London. This edition marked a turning point for the event: new owner (Telegraph Media Group having sold its shares to Hearst UK), new dates (the show was postponed by 3 weeks), a general context which is currently rather unfavorable (the brands are wandering about the relevance of their participation in this type of event), the real question was whether SalonQP would regain a new lease of life. In fact, I expected ... ...Story

Roland Iten: For The Man Who Has Everything - This Moderator's Favorite Horological Inspired Lifestyle Item

Moderator Patrick_y admits why he has acquired very few watches over the years and doles out unsolicited holiday advice… What do you buy after you have a few nice watches? That's Roland Iten. The man is an energetic man who is filled with bright ideas! I’m a little jaded with watches. Yes, there are some amazing pieces, but who has the time to wear all of them? Amassing a large collection is the definition of “collecting” but as a collector, I feel I’m more of a caretaker, often worrying about my pieces. .....Story
