Another Crown enters my collection – Rolex 14060M LGF

My very first “real watch” was a Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600… Another early in to the collection watch was the Explorer II 16570. Since then a lot of different watches, but not many Rolex… I never considered myself as a Rolex collector, but I always thought I should have a Submariner. A true classic that I think, even if looks are similar to the Sea-Dweller, it holds its own charm! Problem is to find the right one, the vintage train left the station long time ago… Moderns are too chunky and square for my taste... .....Story

Vintage Rolex Box and Papers: What I have and what I miss.

While visiting my hard disc, I fell on pictures featuring some of my vintage Rolex watches with box and papers. Not that owning a full set the most important thing, when it comes to vintage, as a nice watch is everything, but it is a plus which is quite rewarding and a pleasant " bonus ". So, I started to make an inventory, and to check what I have and what I miss. GMT MASTER: 6542: I have the certificate and the warranty, I miss the tough to find box and the booklet...Story

One week with the Tudor Black Bay GMT

Avatar

The Tudor Black Bay GMT was one of the stars of the latest edition of Baselworld. It was put under the spotlight thanks to its intrinsic qualities and the concomitant presentation of the Rolex GMT-Master II "Pepsi" in steel with Jubilee bracelet, causing the publication of thousands of articles comparing the two watches. I couldn't escape this trend since I also wrote an article on the same theme (which was published on PuristSPro a few months ago) even if it was primarily devoted to the strategic directions ... ...Story

This is Part 3 of the series that aims to identify future classics from within the ranks of modern Rolex watches - areas perhaps that vintage collectors have not paid attention to. Historically, if one looks back at the many different vintage Rolex watches that have drawn collectors attention, one finds subtle nuances in the dials that cause the attraction. For example, when a dial has something that differentiates it from the vast majority of dials in a reference, it becomes much rarer and thus something ... ...Story
