What I really appreciate here, is the absence of date at 3 o'clock. The dial gains in purity.
And there are not so many Submersible without date!
With a water resistance of 300 meters, it will be good enough for most of the situations you'll face.

I don't know who Mike Horn is (aside from the person Panerai keeps dedicated LEs to!) but this is a *really* appealing setup.

When did the blob markers become so large? Too big IMO, and that unfortunately lends a cartoonish look to this one. Too bad, because as you say, a dateless Submersible is a wonderful thing!
IMO, the other Submersibles are perfectly legible under water. I have dove with them before.
Don't forget about the magnification qualities while diving. You don't need a bigger diameter marker to be functional. You are surely correct about the majority of watches never seeing water though!
