Would buy if into quartz

Gonna buy a couple FO' SO' xD........ Impressed, Filip From these pictures, the Saturn sub-dial watch, the one with the burgundy bezel and sub-dials, and the plain one in the light-grey color of moon-dust appeal to me the most.... Can't wait for some cand...

people would get wound-up about a 'low-end' quartz iteration of the SM for pennies on the dollar.... I had a full-fledged SM before, and will have another down the line, these fun quartz watches take absolutely nothing from the 'OG' SM . Filip

Personally I think it's fantastic for everyone who buys watches on a budget. Omega Speedmasters are too expensive for most people and now - hey presto - they're within reach. Imagine all the kids (and I mean children) who'll be able to enjoy them now, esp...

Smart business move for Swatch in any case as I think these will sell like hotcakes

It is at a VERY accessible price point which will allow MORE people to experience a Speedie at 1/20 - 1/30 the price. All that will do is lead to more Speedie sales where there were no leads prior. Basically FREE marketing from Swatch for Omega. WIN WIN 🏆... 

Their mind will be thinking of Omega...which will lead to them checking it out...endless potential here.

First of all, Patek and Rolex are Independents whereas Omega is OWNED by Swatch or did we seem to forget that ?? Second, I will place a friendly wager with ANYONE to say that Swatch will literally sell out of these Swatch Speedies faster than they can mak... 

why so p...ed? In my post I solely mentioned the future brand value of Omega and not the short-term revenues of Swatch (brand or group). Thus I referred to PP and Rolex (brand value destruction). It's always easy to stretch your grown brand and accelerate... 

I'm not sure for a branding purpose why omega logo, speedmaster logo and speedmaster shape would be so prominent on a few hundred dollar Swatch. It looks cool. But these will sell because someone wants to spend 250 to look like they have a 6k speedmaster....

I own a modern 321 and I can't wait to buy one of these as soon as they become available. I can't think of anything more controversial omega could have come up with. I am not sure wether this was a good idea or not for the brand's image but I am so hyped ... 

It's a smart move to promote and celebrate an iconic watch turning it into an affordable quartz counterpart. I'm still looking for more precise details, but the case, the bioceramic, is made of 2/3 of zirconium dioxide and 1/3 of the coloured resin. This ... 

Why not under the Swatch name, but labelling it with Omega and Speedmaster names is killing a myth, which is a pity. Best, E.

While I do find these watches interesting, I'm not going to buy one. I don't like quartz watches and I already have a 321 in my collection. To me these are great gateway watches for kids and adults alike, but I personally don't see the value in adding one... 

I just got the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch thanks to recommendations from Holdemchamp1225 and Dr. No. And now you're telling me that some kid can get a watch that looks nearly identical for 1/20th the price? What gives? Omega has just betrayed a whole leg...

I agree with your thesis. Every watch should be valued on its own attributes and desire, not if you can get the look for less. That is a WIS general attribute- not chasing something just to buy and appear "richer". It is unfortunate that these are so simi... 

We see through the extraneous to enjoy this hobby. Other forums can argue the price or speculation or who has the best assets, but we just like watches. The novel watch mechanism, the piece unique, as much as the sentimental story, or the persinal enjoyem... 

And for the record. I'm not trying to chase something to make me look richer. In fact, I often avoid wearing my identifiable watches nowadays due to security concerns. And the Quai De Ile is a great timepiece!

I don't feel anyone here buys watches for status. At least that I know. Typically enthusiast sites are geared that way. I just mean the public, why most people buy anything or rolex, for status or brand recognition. I agree, I wear my LF or montblanc mine... 

Our website doesn't foster status seekers. One big Bentley driving fella on our website didn't feel the need to continue on our website after a while after he wasn't feeling he was getting the recognition he deserved. A LF or Montblanc Villeret is definit...
