Do NOT polish
I sent my 5176 for a polish to Patek and they ruined the case and returned it to me. After a lot of emails/calls they eventually agreed to replace the case. I learnt my lesson; don't listen to the people that say PP sends it back to you in a brand new condition. No such thing exists, at the end of the day they will have to remove the metal to get rid of scratches. Your watch will be at the mercy of the skill of that particular technician.
You will pay for the polish, you will not be happy with it and you end up selling it. The cost of the polish will be down the drain.

This is exactly my impression as well.
Mind you, these technicians are highly skilled. Their ONLY job is to polish watches. Still, it is done āFree handā at The Patek service department. No jig or tools to help precision. - and itās shows in the end. You will have no doubt.
If This Was Decades Ago
If this was decades ago, i'd say ask for a light polish and for them to be careful around the case markings. Alas, times have changed and so do not allow PP to polish the case. There are stories about... and I see someone already chimed in with their situ...
Agree with everything said here and also, a dealer can polish it if they really want to at a nominal cost so even if PP did a perfect job, it wouldn't be worth that much more in trade

Spoke to few dealers on minute repatersā¦ this will take timeā¦ not easy to getā¦ but will keep trying.
A watch is only unpolished once in its life. No explanation or story needed.
