Nope, they do look similar Gordon (and they are only 115 km apart), but like I was saying the two places are different...
The one in your picture is Manarola (one of the Cinque Terre), while the dial is Boccadasse (a neighborhood very much inside of Genova)😉🥂 Manarola Boccadasse ...

Questions: Did Patek confirm the Boccadesse location instead of Cinque Terre for the motif ? To a non-Italian like me (although I love Italian cuisine, wine🍷, etc.), the two scenes look the same to me ! LOL !! 🤣
Yep, when I told Patek they obviously agreed the location is Boccadasse (they are similar, but if you look closely you'll find at least 1500 differences..;-)
The point is that the name "Cinque Terre" is famous worldwide, so it makes more sense to use it for the broader area...I know Boccadasse because I'm from there, but hardly many people outside of Italy have even heard the name
