Oh man, you paid way too much!
Considering it was listed for $595 new in the 1967 V&C price list ;-) Congrats on a nice clean piece with original dial and hands. Crown may not be original, its taller than shown in my reference photos (should also have a slight dome). I wouldn't worry too much, although original crown is a great bonus it was a replaceable item; gold-capped and tended to wear through. FWIW, the back has been polished and the original circular brushing replaced by vertical graining. Is there a hallmark punched on the back of the lugs or side of case?

Vintage V&C are widely undervalued at the moment, but even in that context, it was a very reasonable deal, assuming that the movement is clean and correct. Regards, Tony C.
