This reference with Chinese numerals links JD’s rich history with China 🇨🇳. In general, JD to me is a very interesting brand with lots of historical milestones, especially on automatons !

What year was this version made and what was the story behind it ?

I got this in 2005. I saw it at an AD. JD made their watches in limited runs of usually 88 pieces and sometimes in 8 pieces such as mine. Though I remember reading somewhere that for this Chinois Decentree version, only 6 were made.

I have a question. I've been eyeing one or two references recently but am baulking at the 43mm case diameter. My wrist size is around 175mm/just under 7", and my watches are 35mm to 42mm. The 42mm watch has a black dial and an integrated bracelet which combine to moderate its visual span.

But now after years big and bigger watch trends , that sensation is less both on the eyes and on the wrist😀. I’ve changed. I guess

I've watched some useful hands-on reviews, and see that the lugs drop quite abruptly and that the case is of a good thickness. This suggests that the three dimensions and heft are well-suited for a watch of this size as I see it. In terms of references, the recent paillonnée and stonework dials have me more than a little interested. Next stop will be the local authorised dealer for some hands-on experience. All the best.
