Here are two very inexpensive yet satisfying to wear watches.
The Timex Expedition has 50m wr and +/-2 sec/mo quartz accuracy, matte dark gray finish and Indiglo dial for second-to-none nighttime legibility. Purchased used at a thrift store for the price of a cup of coffee. The Red Star Bronze 1963 features an ST1901, hand wind, 21 jewel, bi-compax, column wheel movement that is that is the extension of the Venus 175 movement purchased from Venus circa 1960 by Tianjin Watch Company for development and use by the Chinese Air Force (1963). 50m wr and 45 hr pr on FKM Rubber w/ bronze deployment. A long time ago someone told me:
"Anyone can get a good bottle of wine. All you have to do is spend $200. The trick is to get a good bottle for $25." This was back in 1985. I've applied this philosophy to many pursuits...hi-fi equipment, cameras, wine, whiskey, you name it...and now watches.
