Omega Speedmaster Alaska Project ( Re Edition ).

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-10:16
Not the vintage, here, but the re edition. The Vintage is one of my Grails, but finding one is almost impossible as very few were made... Less than Ten?

While the re edition is a missed train. Not very popular when launched, you could get one for less than 3 K Euros... No it is another thing...

My favorite white Speedie, for the moment.

Best,

Nicolas

I agree with you on that one.

I've always struggled with one detail

The Ladies' bathroom sign hands, otherwise lovely and great bragging rights!

The ladies bathroom... LOL. You are in terrific shape!

I’ve always thought they looked like the NASA Apollo Service Module

…which I’m glad that I see, rather than a ladies bathroom sign (!)

Me too! ;)

Alas, these missed trains…

Cue the somber music.

LOL, well said!

This will always be the white dial to own

 By: SayNo2Babies : March 16th, 2024-14:50
I adore the subdial indices

Me too!

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-16:58

Would have been so easy...

They could have used the matte case from the Soeedy tuesday I and the hands from your re-edition. Together with the newly presented white dial you have a perfect watcg Alaska Project IV

That would deserve a small photoshop! ;)

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-17:24

What a dial and cannot believe this was not very popular when released.

 By: KCLQMULKU : March 16th, 2024-18:30

Yes, same for me.

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-18:58

Very surprising to hear

 By: clemens m : March 16th, 2024-20:33
that this was not very sought after and available quite cheap shortly afterwards - a lot like the "TinTin". I have a soft spot tor these oddball Speedmasters - they are a really nice variation of this evergreen-watch.

Yes, I do remember that they stood in the windows for many months...

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-21:06

Irresistibile! This old style white dial is amazing…

 By: massi. : March 16th, 2024-21:39

I know how much you like this one.

 By: amanico : March 16th, 2024-21:41

I think you need to fork out more than 10k even if you can find the re-edition now…

I recalled taking a photo of the re-edition when it was on display during it launch. If I can find it, maybe just post it here. 😅

Yes, much more than that, alas...

Brings back memories of when Alaskas . . .

 By: Dr No : March 17th, 2024-18:02
. . . were available.

Don't recall them being discounted, but they were readily available for a few years.  The recent limited Speedy personally missed is the Apollo-Soyuz meteorite dial, which came out shortly after the Alaska Project.  Strangely enough there isn't an image in my files that I've taken, but the official photos were preserved on my hard drive.

Not looking to acquire one now, though.

Best,

Art

Wow, not bad looking at all, this " Meteorite '!

 By: amanico : March 17th, 2024-18:24

The dials were sliced from a meteor . . .

 By: Dr No : March 17th, 2024-22:17
. . . which makes them truly 'moon' watches.  Wish I'd bought one then . . . they're double in price now.

Alas, alas...
