Another shot of this marvelous transitional reference.

There is not much better than this one, in terms of Sea Dwellers.. The James Cameron, I like it a lot, and it is one of my targets, but not above this one.

Maybe a Double Red MK II???

Best,

Nicolas

Fantastic piece…maybe the best sea dweller?

With the DRSD and the JC, yes. I would say DRSD first, then this one and the JC at the third place.

Love these Seadwellers. I agree James Cameron is good traget , but this reference is great.

Incredible reference

particularly with matte dial. It was interesting that this and the 1665 featured together in the early 1980s Oyster booklet that came with the watches.

Yes, really bewitching, and it has the characteristic patina of these transitional references.

I couldn't say which is better as I am not familiar with vintage models but I do LOVE this reference so much better then any current sub that I can say!

There is something about soul and character, compared to the clinical current models...

Totally! The only thing stopping me from buying vintage is my expectation that any watch I own needs to run fairly accurately, hence afraid to buy one that will run well outside COSC for example

This one is super accurate.

The best Rolex diver…

The thing about the James Cameron …my cutoff is 45mm x 18mm …once you go bigger than that as far as I’m concerned it’s a “device” not a wristwatch. They start to look absurd for every day wear. The 1200m is perfect.

The JC is 43 mm, right?

 By: amanico : March 20th, 2024-16:26

Or maybe 44?

 By: amanico : March 20th, 2024-16:34

Yes…

I was thinking of the latest one. 50 mm way too big…it’s not IMO a record breaker if you have to strap a giant hunk of metal to your wrist but the Cameron does fall within my “spec” 😅🤣

Aaah, this one. Quite challenging to wear, indeed.
