I fully understand why the Cartier Crash watches are special however the price they achieve is just beyond my comprehension to make any sense.

That is surprising, indeed. But this is not the only watch whose price can surprise. ;)
How very true, but have you seen the prices for a crash lately it makes a lot of RM's look like a Timex price wise.

It was interesting when it was a novelty, something vintage or some modern but rarely seen.
But now it’s been overdone, which is maybe an odd thing to say about any watch given most of them exist in abundance.
For some reason with the Crash my feelings are “not another dude with a crash” every time I see one.
To be fair, no, not in real life.
But ever watch influencer, “power collector” and taste maker on IG has one at this point. It just seems I see a lot of them ! 🤔
The price on the crash is nonsensical
Don’t get me wrong, the crash has been and will always be a special watch, not just for Cartier, but as a unique creation of the 60s.
But there are plenty of other brands that have been unique shaped cases, like VC for example, some of them have significantly better watchmaking chops than Cartier, and are much rarer. There are so many unusual case shapes from the 30s and 40s that get nearly no attention.
